Buccal Facial Massage

Buccal massage is a deeply therapeutic facial treatment that goes beyond traditional facials. As women, we often carry tension not only in our faces, but also in our neck, shoulders, and scalp — from stress, emotional holding, jaw clenching, and years of “masking.” This can show up as TMJ discomfort, headaches, jaw pain, and a feeling of tightness or heaviness in the face and upper body.

This treatment works with the deep and superficial muscles of the face, including those involved in expression, chewing, and emotional holding. Using a combination of intra-oral techniques, gua sha, facial reflexology, and sculpting massage — alongside deeply relaxing work on the neck, shoulders, and scalp — these muscles are gently released. Circulation is boosted, facial tone is restored, the skin is revitalised, and the nervous system is deeply soothed.

Buccal massage can help to:

• Relieve TMJ pain and jaw tension

• Ease headaches and migraines

• Release neck and shoulder tension

• Lift and tone sagging facial muscles

• Improve acne, including hormonal and cystic breakouts

• Revive dull, sluggish skin

• Support teenage and problematic skin

By working both inside and outside of the mouth, and including the head, neck, and shoulders, this treatment offers a complete 360° release for the face and upper body. Many women experience not only visible results, but also a profound sense of relaxation, release, and emotional lightness.

“I’m a big fan of massage but felt very sceptical of buccal massage. The idea of someone putting gloves on and putting their hands in my mouth felt medical and off putting but MY GOSH was I wrong. I have genuinely never felt more relaxed in my life- who knew I felt so much tension there. I genuinely nodded off twice and afterwards (I wasn’t expecting it) my face even looked less puffy. Already booked in for another!” Lydia, Oxford

Frequently Asked Questions

  • For TMJ we would need three treatments close together and then we can assess on how much maintenance you need until you feel the treatments have done their magic. For lifting, you would need 1-2 treatments a week for 5 weeks. For general face tension I would suggest 3-4 weekly treatments but would expect you to feel a difference straight away

  • Worried about the implications of having someone’s fingers in your mouth? Fear not, I will be wearing vinyl gloves during the intra oral element of the massage so that we are both protected.

  • There is no preparation needed although it would be best if you arrived with no makeup.

  • For Buccal massage I use an unscented shea butter. If you prefer, we can switch to coconut oil
